About
New York City native and Parsons School of Design graduate, Jackie launched her design career working for innovative fashion house Fiorucci in Milan, Italy. There she developed her bold and graphic, pop culture style.
In 1984 she pioneered the use of a desk top computer to design fashion & pushed the boundaries of digital design in her practice.
In the 1990s, Jackie added surface designer to her skills and created a pattern collection that quickly became the favorite of companies such as Le Sport Sac, and The Gap.
Mattel Inc., Barbie's famous creator, commissioned Shapiro's talents from 1997 through 2005. As a consulting creative Jackie developed fashion and pattern concepts, bringing her modern vision and branding strategies for Mattel's Barbie brand Style guide and My Scene Style guide, distributed to over 500 licensees world wide. Later also working closely with Cartoon Network's consumer products division designing the style guide assets
for the Powerpuff Girls and Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi brands.
In 2002, Shapiro founded the French Bull brand, which became known for redefining melamine tableware. She transformed it from a poolside accessory into an everyday lifestyle statement focused on modern design, functionality, and ease of use. As her business grew, she expanded her "LIVE VIVID" motto through retail collaborations and licensing partnerships with top manufacturers.
In 2024, Jackie sold her French Bull brand. Now, as a multidisciplinary creative, she channels her design and business expertise into personal projects, with a focus on anticipating and shaping the future of design.
